Not far from the company headquarters of the Boker manufacture in Solingen, we find the hallmark of the Bergisches Land region: the Castle Burg an der Wupper. It is one of the largest castles in western Germany. and the largest reconstructed castle in North Rhine-Westphalia. The famous history of Castle Burg is inseparably linked to the Duchy Berg and the Counts von Berg (Haus Berg 1068-1225). On this occasion, we decided to dedicate a series of Straight Razors to the three Counts von Berg; symbolizing parts of the each of their lives, and reminding us of their remarkable influence with impressive ornamentations made from 24 Carat Gold.

The last Count von Berg, Engelbert II., was also known as Engelbert I., Archbishop of Cologne; when he was murdered, Berg went to the House of Limburg. This splendid 7/8 inch Straight Razor shows Engelbert as Archbishop of Cologne. The graded head of this blade is made from finest Solingen Straight Razor steel. The curved blade back, in combination with a handle made from finest stag, boast the elegance and unique impact this razor possesses. The blade is ground extra hollow with ridge. Each razor includes a certificate of authenticity, and a refined presentation display with an individual serial number.

Please allow a minimum of at least 3-4 business days for us to prepare your Straight Razor, as this is not a product that you buy just anywhere. It needs special attention to detail as it will come in contact with your skin, and must be sanitized and polished before being coated with Renaissance Wax. Note: When you receive the razor for the first time, carefully take it out of the box and remove the oil with a piece of tissue. The razor has already been stropped and it completely “Shave Ready”, so go ahead and shave! You will get 2 shaves before needing to strop (depending on how aggressive your beard growth is. Each time you have used your razor, rinse the blade with hot tap water. Carefully and thoroughly dry the blade and in between the scales with a piece of tissue paper before you close it. We recommend to oil your razor after every use. To maintain a sharp cutting edge, strop regularly prior to shaving.
